It was bound to happen!
Don't let Cameron fool you ... he's 33 pounds of pure rough and toughness! And what happens when that 33 pounds flies through the air and lands on top of you? The result is a broken arm! Austin's broken arm. I knew sooner or later by the way those boys play, that an injury like this was bound to happen. It was just a matter of time. Well Austin at age 6 has now had his first real injury. Earlier this evening, apparently, Cameron thought it would be a good idea to jump and land on top of Austin, but when his full weight landed on Austin's forearm all fun went out the window. Almost immediately afterwards Austin started crying. It didn't take me long to notice that his cry was a sincere cry of pain. He told me that he heard a crack in his arm, but there was nothing visual to see or feel. Spencer took a look at it, and came to the conclusion that Cameron broke it. X-rays and a trip to urgent care confirmed that he did in fact break the smaller bone in his forearm which will require a hard shell cast. The nurses were so sweet to Austin and so impressed by him. When we brought him in he was Mr. Cool, saying it didn't hurt, which was a different tune then he was singing on the ride over. I guess he felt the need to "be a man." When the nurses saw him leave with his arm wrapped in a sling, they were all so amazed that he was acting as cool as he was. That's my boy!

oh no!!! Poor guy! He does look like he is playing it really cool. Just wait, he'll really be the cool kid at school tomorrow when he gets to show off his cast! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with boys thinking getting hurt is so cool?? Of course, I guess that is better than screaming and making it difficult for the doctors.
ReplyDeleteMaika thought it was pretty cool that he would get to wear a cast when I told her why he wasn't walking to school with her this morning!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brave little guy!! Poor Cameron, did he feel just so bad??? That is what I am waiting for!! I know it is bound to happen.
ReplyDeleteThis just sounds like a foreshadowing of our house! I can see it now!
ReplyDeleteI hope that it heals quickly and perfectly!
poor little guy, he is so cute. way to be tough.
ReplyDeleteBoys will be boys, no matter how old. My dad actually broke his rib wrestling with my grown brother. Sheesh.
