Can I really be that lucky?
I feel like I have had a run of back luck lately. It seems like I have spent more time in the Kaiser waiting room, then I have anywhere else. Between my strep throat incident, Austin's broken arm and Andrew not feeling well, we have made 5 trips into the medical facility in the last 2 weeks. Thank goodness for good health insurance!! Yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back though. 2 days ago, almost instantly, I had a fierce sore throat come on ... yet again. I really did not want to drive back into town, but I knew I had to. I wanted Andrew to get looked at while we were there because he just isn't getting any better either. I arrived at the clinic and had the throat culture done, but due to the fact that I just came off antibiotics, they couldn't tell me right away if I have it. I got a call this afternoon confirming that I do. The bummer part is everything has shut down early because of the heavy snow we are getting. So at this point I have no way to get antibiotics. (Boo...hoo!) With Andrew they found that he has an ear infection and we were able to get him on antibiotics so he should start to feel his normal self again real soon. As far as I am concerned, I don't know what the deal is. I don't know if my body is becoming immune to penicillin, or if I just caught it again? Who knows. I have an appointment with the ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) doctor next week to talk about what to do next. I'm pretty sure they will want to remove my tonsils, but I am not looking forward to that!

Oh Nicole, I'm so sorry. That just really stinks! I hope they'll be able to figure something out so you can feel healthier. Having your tonsils out wouldn't be too bad, at least you'd get all the ice cream and jello you want;)
ReplyDeleteWe missed you today, I am sorry you caught that nasty strep again. I hope you can get some meds and start feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened to me and Grayson. I had to go and get different, stronger antibiotics, but starting to feel better. Get well soon!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about all the sickness....strep throat is the worse! I hope you can somehow manage to trudge through the snow and get your medication. My kids have been so jealous that your schools are all closed. It's been snowing like crazy here and school stays open.....it would have to snow 5 feet before they declared a snow day here I'm afraid. Get you and your family feeling better and have a wonderful Christmas, a white one at that!:) MERRY CHRISTMAS from the Garrison family!
ReplyDeleteThat's sucky! Does Andrew get ear infections often? I got them all the time as a little one and I have since learned that milk allergies are a big cause of ear infections in kids...go figure? Maybe try cutting out dairy for him? Who knows...good luck!
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to spend these beautful snowy days. I'm sorry you guys are so sick. Send the boys down our way for a snowball fight if you need a minute to yourself to rest!
ReplyDeleteI hope you all stay healthy from now on!
ReplyDeleteKaiser can call a prescription into Walmart for you and most anti-biotic are on the $4 list. I had to do it last week. ;-) Hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better now, and that you will finally get some relief if you get your tonsils taken out. And happy late bday to Spencer, too!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
