The Bug Keeps Coming Back

Do I have a flashing neon sign hanging over my head that says, "She wants strep throat. Give her strep throat!?" Because that is how I feel! I have never met anyone more susceptible to getting strep throat then myself. Within the past year alone, I believe I've gotten it three times already. In fact, it's almost comical now. Anytime I get a sore throat it's just automatic for me to assume that I have it, because 80% of the time, I do. I can't figure it out. I am dumbfounded trying to figure out why I seem to be so susceptible to it? This afternoon, while talking to the nurse she said, "you know, it's not very common for adults to get strep throat as frequently as you do. I think you should talk to your doctor about this. Maybe you are a carrier of it or something." What the heck does that mean, that's not exactly good news?! I'm not worried about me being sick, but I do worry about the boys. I would hate for any of them to get it, especially baby Andrew. In the meantime, I will drink as many Burgerville Pumpkin shakes as I can get my hands on.

  1. Oh, gosh. I'm sorry!! I've never heard of anyone being a carrier for strep! Let me know if I can help out at all. I'll bring you a smoothie or something. :)

  2. How horrible! I've had it once or twice in my life and that was enough. I hope they can figure something out to put a stop to your recurrent plague.

  3. This happened to me when my kids were little like yours. Instead of taking oral antibiotics I opted for the shot. It REALLY!!!! hurts. But, I never got strep again after that. I kind of feels like they are shooting peanut butter in your bum and it leaves a knot.

You are probably not the carrier. Usually someone else in the house is and the person(s) getting it are susceptible.

Throw away all the toothbrushes. everybody's.

Good Luck. I know it is miserable.

  5. I have two friends that in the last year have had their tonsils removed because of how often they got strep throat...maybe that's an option? Get well soon!
