Seven-day Social Media Fast

I just finished watching the Youth Devotional presented by President and Sister Nelson and it was GREAT! During the devotional, President Nelson challenged the youth of the church to go on a seven-day social media fast. Now I consider social media to mean platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.. and I have been wanting to separate myself from social media as well, but it's been hard to do for the following reasons:

1) I have been using Facebook as a form of journaling for several years now. I have printed each year in book form and it's super easy to post, share, and print. Going away from Facebook means I would need to start journaling elsewhere and I'm concerned that I won't keep up with it.

2) Even though I feel that social media is unhealthy, I am super afraid that I will not know what's going on with anyone anymore. Facebook is always the place to hear news first and I'm scared about being out of the loop.

Regardless of my fears, I am going to try my best to put my phone down and engage in social media less, following my seven-day fast of course! I also like the idea of going back to this blog for my journaling. I actually do enjoy journaling, but on the Facebook platform I find myself censoring my thoughts a bit so that I don't over share or offend anyone. I don't feel that pressure here, so hopefully it works for me!

P.S., the social media fast starts tomorrow!!
