I Often Wonder??

I often wonder why I have a playroom full of toys!? Some days it feels like toys are for the boys to just pull out and scatter around the play room with very little time, if any at all, actually spent playing with them. And I keep asking myself why it is that I spend a good deal of money on a toy when a single roll of tape and paper will hold their attention much longer?? I wonder if I would regret donating more than half of these toys? I wonder if I am the only Mother who feels this way?

  1. you are not alone!!! I wonder the same thing. the bedrooms and playroom are full of toys that the kids have not touched in ages. For each of them I would probably say that there are 3 toys total that they REALLY play with and REALLY enjoy. We have some gifts from Christmas that still have not been played with. That tells me that we did too much this year, and next year we definitely need to scale it back. Everyone's getting a 6-pack of soda under the tree! :)

  2. I am with you! In the last month or so we have been secretly removing unloved items from the boys rooms and stashing them away to donate. They haven't missed a thing and probably never will! (But I know they they would throw a fit if they knew we were getting rid of their stuff.)

  3. Me too! I am currently in stash mode like Michelle. It really is crazy, how much stuff accumulates.

  4. We went through all of the toys last year and got rid of a ton of them. They haven't even cared. They did notice one or two missing and we just told them--you never played with it so we gave it away. They weren't even phased.

  5. The one good thing I find about being pregnant is my urge to declutter. I have removed so many unused toys in the past months. We have so many that wind up on the floor that I have never even seen my kids play with. Must be a ghost in the night I guess.
